Now [1161] at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

And [1161] they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

When [1161] he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man : for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

But [1161] the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and [1161] destroy Jesus.

The governor answered and [1161] said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? [1161] They said, Barabbas.

And [1161] the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But [1161] they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

When [1161] Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person : see ye to it.

Then released he Barabbas unto them : and [1161] when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

[1161] Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

Now [1161] the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

[1161] Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch : go your way, make it as sure as ye can.

Then [1161] the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

And when they saw him, they worshipped him : but [1161] some doubted.

And [1161] they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

And they laughed him to scorn. But [1161] when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

He answered and [1161] said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

[1161] He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

But [1161] when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out :

[1161] The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
