Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said [0559] unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.

That ye shall say [0559], It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said [0559], Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.

And they said [0559] unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying [0559], Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

And Moses said [0559] unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day : for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

And the LORD said [0559] unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward :

And Moses spake [0559] unto Aaron, Say [0559] unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD : for he hath heard your murmurings.

I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel : speak unto them, saying [0559], At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.

And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying [0559], Is the LORD among us, or not?

And Moses said [0559] unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek : to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

So Joshua did as Moses had said [0559] to him, and fought with Amalek : and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

And the LORD said [0559] unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua : for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

And when Moses ' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said [0559], What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
