And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar [08559].

Then said Judah to Tamar [08559] his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown : for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar [08559] went and dwelt in her father's house.

And it was told Tamar [08559], saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.

And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar [08559] thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick : and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar [08559] come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick : and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar [08559] my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.
